Where's the best place to withdraw money from an overseas account in Japan?

When I first arrived in Japan in 2001, I had no idea how to get money out of my American bank account. I recently read during my trip to Okinawa in early December that Japan just got its missile defense shield up and running. It is being run jointly by the JDF and the US military to protect from North Korean and Chinese threats. The report said that Okinawa already had a defense shield in place, courtesy of the US military, because of all the military installations on the island.

I saw today that Japan shot down a practice missile fired from the Pacific. This is being jointly administered by Japan and the US. It is supposed to prevent attacks from N Korea. This cooperation is also supposed to strengthen ties between our countries. I am all for that!

Yeah, there are some patriot missile batteries here in Okinawa. When I moved here I wondered whether I was better of being here or in Osaka. I thought, in Osaka I have no missile defense shield, but in Okinawa I've got a big target painted on the center of the island.  Grin
