The " Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu"
are cultural heritages characteristically unique to the district of the
Ryukyu. They were developed sometime between the end of the 14th century
when the Ryukyu Kingdom began its steps toward unification,and the end
of the 18th century when the Kingdom was finally established.

Shikinaen is a royal garden villa constructed in 1799. It was used not
only for recreational purposes by the royal members but also played an
important role in hosting reception parties for investiture envoys from
the emperor of China. It is a very rare example of unique garden designs
established in the Ryukyuan district in Modern Japan. It is nominated as
a special(designed culture)landscape.
