Okinawa has a subtropical climate and is located between 27° N and and 24° N longitude. This is about the same as the southern half of the Florida Panhandle. It's usually quite humid throughout the year, especially during the rainy season.

With regards to temperature, it's climate resembles Miami, Florida, but with slightly cooler winters. As you can see, the hottest month is July and the coolest month is January. Here's some temperature data.

Okinawa recieves about 77 inches of rain a year, 20 of that during the rainy season in May and June.

Finally, the Okinawan typhoon season runs between May and November with most typhoons occoring during the months of July, August, and September. These typhoons can be very powerful and it's best to stay indoors and not do anything stupid during them. English langauge typhoon information is avaliable on the military weather stations at 648 AM and 89.1 FM.
