Nami no Ue Beach is the only beach located within the Naha city limits. Its location is probably its primary appeal. If you're in Naha without a car, it's the only beach you can get to without a long bus trip or a high taxi fare.
Getting there: Coming from the North (Chatan area) on Route 58, turn right at the Kumoji intersection. Go down about half a mile, they'll be a Family Mart on your right. Turn left just after this Family Mart. There should be a park on your right and buildings on your left. Continue another 200 yards down this road and Naminoue Beach as well as parking should be on your right. There's the beach! Beach Review: Being located in Naha City is this beaches biggest advantage as well as its biggest drawback. If you're looking for a natural beach free from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is not the beach for you. There is a highway overpass hovering just in front of the beach and the water quality is often not the greatest due to construction going on in the area. The swimming area is of average size, about 200 feet by 60 feet, and it is protected by a net. There are also shower facilities and lockers. Lifeguards are on duty. Parking is 300 yen. Facilities: Open:May - October Time: 9am-6pm Free Admission Parking (300 yen) Lifeguard Jellyfish Net Showers Lockers Emergency Aid Station Changing Rooms Kiosks
