Tropical Beach is located in Ginowan City near the Okinawa Convention Center on the Ginowan Bypass.
Getting There: Coming from the airport, follow Route 58 up until Makiminato (about 30 minutes). Then you'll see a McDoland's in a big pachinko parlor on your left. From there make sure you're in the left lane and follow the left lane off 58 to the left. You'll come to a light where you turn left and drive over a bridge. This is the Ginowan Bypass. Continue down until you see a sign for the Okinawa Convention Center and Tropical Beach. Beach Review: Tropical is an artificial beach, so the bottom is all sand. You don't need to worry about stepping on coral and hurting your feet. There are usually quite a few people around during the summer months so it's not exactly a great "get away from it all" beach, but it is very beautiful. The water is usually very clear and clean. There are several shops near the beach too, so you can get sun tan lotion, drinks or ice cream at the beach. There are also BBQ grills and sets available for rental but these do require a reservation, so be sure to call in advance if you're thinking about using these. I doubt that they have English speaking staff available though. Another fun thing to do at this beach is walk out onto the reef during low tide and examine the tidal pools. You can find a lot of sea creatures here, even some really weird ones. Facilities: Hours:9am-9:30pm (Swimming 9am-7pm *May vary by season*) Free Parking (170 Spaces) Free Admission Rental Equipment Shops and Kiosks Shower Rooms Changing Rooms Jellyfish Net BBQ Grills
